Two for Tuesday: Senior Sleuth Sequels!

These themes will vary! It could be based off of some book mail I just received, pop culture, something personal to me, a headline from the news, a trend I noticed when I was buying books for my library system, etc. I hope you stick around to see all the themes and book recs I come up with!

Today’s Theme: Senior Sleuth Sequels!

It took me a long time to get into cozy mysteries. I always thought I needed more of the crazy and weird. But then I happened upon some books that have older women acting as amateur sleuths, and that was all she wrote. I hate to say this, but fictional old people are so funny lol (And it always amazes me that these older people just tell people to do things and they just listen to them lol) In this story, Glory is still funny, but since the “victim” is her ex who once cheated on her, she’s a bit more serious. She’s still called a busy body and she absolutely plays up on her age in order to help solve this case. I hope there is more to come in this series. For now, Book 1 and 2 (this one!) are out now.

Vera is a different story. She also finds herself in the middle of another mystery. But where Glory landed in hers, Vera legit went looking for hers lol And let me tell you, she is every bit as messy as the first one lol And in this one she is still being everyone’s Grandma or Auntie and giving a whole new group dinner parties to get the information out of them lol We also get to see the old dinner party group as well. This one seems bigger than what she could handle, but she absolutely uses her age and cooking to make sure they figure everything out. If you want to see what Vera is all about, Book 1 is out now. Book 2 will be out next Tuesday, 4/01.

Well, there you go! Here I’m just going to talk about why I grouped these two books together. I hope you enjoyed a look at this small part of the books. For a full synopsis of the book or to add it to your TBR, click the picture and it will take you to their Storygraph. The link on the caption will take you to it’s Goodreads.

Looking for more Senior Sleuths?

There’s also the Miss Marple mysteries, but go for the retellings. I will NOT be promoting racist A*atha C*ristie here.

Have you heard of these two? Did you know they were both sequels? What do you think of cozy mysteries? Have you read any with nosey, senior sleuths? Let me know in the comments!
