The snark and instant chemistry of Better Than the Movies meets the indulgent summer fun and family hijinks of The Summer of Broken Rules in this compulsively readable rom-com from Alex Light, author of The Upside of Falling.

Jackie Myers is a fraud. Or she might be a genius—the jury’s still out.

The thing is, she secretly runs pleasebreakmyheart, a gone-viral account aimed at breaking hearts and ending relationships…. And she just used it to break up her insufferable eternal nemesis’s picture-perfect relationship.

Wilson is the buttoned-up, type A assistant manager of her nightmares—but it turns out he’s also, apparently, a really great boyfriend.

So with her conscience (and paycheck) on the line, Jackie decides there’s only one thing to do: She’s going to help Wilson win his ex-girlfriend back. Which should be easy, considering Jackie hates him…right?

*MY THOUGHTS*

Idk if this was a me thing or if I really thought it was just mid. I liked it enough, but my head just wasn’t in it. It worked because I didn’t have anything super exciting and it didn’t have anything that I had any real issues with. It was fine and it did what it was supposed to do.

Ok so the FMC was a little bit weird tho. She did A LOT of weird shit that she shouldn’t have done. Like the notes thing? That’s sketchy and not her business. ESPECIALLY if she didn’t even like him. So basically I was side eyeing her after that. I never really felt like she redeemed herself after that either because she kept it a secret from him. She definitely should have told him. And the way she was so obsessed with everything BUT being a good person? Yeah she wasn’t my favorite, but I understood why she was written that way. The MMC was just basic tho. It was supposed to be enemies to lovers, but he was just regular. I didn’t feel like there was anything special to him. And the way she was saying she was falling for him with some of the ways he was special and the way he was when they hung out and I also thought that was weird. Like she fell for a dude that that was planning dates and other things for someone else? Is that not weird?

Ok so the romance was cute, but again, it wasn’t anything over basic. She fell for a dude that had feelings for someone else… And then, she tried to gaslight herself by saying he was doing it subconsciously for her. And I’m like uhhh ok. I don’t want to be a subconscious thought? I want to be the first thing you think about? And like, she was feeding him this stuff? Idk it seemed sus to me. I know I’m not everyone, but it wasn’t exactly Earth shattering. I don’t think I would have remembered what happened at all if I hadn’t written notes down immediately after lol

It’s not that it was bad, it was just basic. I’m not sure if I had my mind shut off because of WHEN I read this and I just needed to be reading words, or what, but whatever it was, I just didn’t feel all in. I don’t know that it was my fault either tho. I have read another book by Light and wasn’t exactly super moved the either. I guess I have to read their last one to see.

Overall, I give this
