*MY THOUGHTS*

This was one of those sleeper hits for me. I haven’t read a book this hard in such a long while. So much so that I struggled with it a bit. Some parts were really hard and I had to put the book down for a bit. Other parts I was a little perturbed at, but they were mostly minor. I had so many back and forths with this, it might take a while to get through it.

The synopsis in this one didn’t give much away. I feel like I went in blind. And that’s just how I like it. Because so when I found out what this book was really about? I was BLOWN AWAY. I was not expecting any of the things this book was holding. Because man, this thing was a freaking soap opera. This was one of the things that irked me though. They didn’t talk through anything. She felt hurt the entire time, but didn’t talk to anyone. I do understand that this is a YA book and she’s been trough some really tough things tho, so I let it go.

The timeline was what made this book for me. I loved being able to go back and forth and see how the things they did in the past put everything else in motion. Because the thing in the past that happened? Oof. I have to say, it was not a small thing. I loved that the way it’s told also keeps all the most important parts secret until it was time to reveal them. Like at the end. ESPECIALLY at the end when it changes POVs.

I knew I liked it because I was talking back to the characters like they could hear me. Early on I was yelling at Ellis because why were you like this? I was upset that she was doing all this and we didn’t know anything about why. And then I was mad because I was yelling these things at her, and her reason was actually pretty sad. There was just so much that was a surprise from this, from what was happening, to the amount of feelings that I felt while reading this.

I’m trying so hard to review this without spoilers. So basically, the writing style is amazing, the feelings were present, and the shock value was there. This book will stress you out in the best way. (I know because it did it to me.) But it will also put you back together again. I hope y’all don’t miss out on this book.
