*MY THOUGHTS*
It’s times like these that I’m super thankful for my job. I love that I’m the purchaser for YA now because without it I wouldn’t find the hidden gems like this one. I had not heard of this before I bought it. I thought others had, but I haven’t seen it on anyone else’s Read shelves. I hope people finally get around to reading it.
Twenty years ago Francis Quick murdered her best friend and she was sentenced to death. But then the Accelerated Death Penalty Act sped up the date and gave her 30 days to live. Knowing they didn’t have much evidence, Nyla decides she’s going to find out more about this case. She definitely wasn’t ready for what she found.
Yo, this was wild. That’s it. That’s the review. lol When I tell you I wasn’t ready for this, but I had so much fun while reading it. I loved Steven’s writing style. I’ve read books of hers before, but it wasn’t like this one. This one was such a wild ride. The mystery was bomb and I loved the way she didn’t let anything stop her from figuring things out..
The ending was the best part. I had to listen to some parts over and over again. I didn’t go to sleep until after 2 because I was too busy trying to finish it the other night. It was totally worth it because when I tell you I was sitting with my mouth open in shock at that dining room scene! Lol that was a lot and I couldn’t do anything but rewind it a little and listen to that part again.
The characters were the one thing I didn’t like. I hate when parents act like their kids don’t deserve to know the truth. That girl almost went her whole life without knowing who she truly was. And that’s not right. They should have told her long before that. Who knows, maybe she could have hurried and got things done way before it was almost too late. And I didn’t care for the way the writing was basically I’ll only tell you a few details here and there so you can’t guess everything or everyone who’s involved. As a fan of thrillers and mysteries I was definitely trying to guess whodunit, but without all the info you’re not able to make any real guesses.
This book is going to be on my favorite thrillers for a long while. I hope this review or even the picture of the cover makes someone pick it up. Although it had some hiccups, it was still a super fun read. I hope (if you pick it up) that you think so too!
