WHAT SHE ORDERED? A RIDESHARE. WHAT SHE GOT? HIM. When Mari jumps in the back of her rideshare to a music festival, the last thing she expects is for the car to pick up a cute guy along the way. Mari doesn’t believe in dating—it can only end with a broken heart. Besides, she’s only staying at her dad’s house in Chicago for the weekend. How close can you get to a guy in three days? T.J. wants to study art in college, but his family’s expectations cast a long shadow over his dreams. When he meets Mari in the back of a rideshare, he feels alive for the first time in a long time. Mari and T.J. enter the festival together and share an electric moment but get separated in a crowd with seemingly no way to find each other. When fate reunites them (with a little help from a viral hashtag), they’ll have to decide: Was it love at first sight or the start of nothing more than a weekend fling?

*MY THOUGHTS*

I had to sit with this one for a while. I kept pushing it back because every time I started it, I didn’t get far into it. As it turns out, when I finally made it through the book, it wasn’t my favorite of hers. But it still has Kenneally’s name on it so I read it anyway lol

Her and her cousin are on their way to a concert so they get a rideshare where they meet two brothers who they find to be really fun. They end up becoming good friends. And once they find out they’ve only got 3 days to get to know each other better, they do what they can to enjoy each other while they have the time. Can they become more or anything really before its time for them to leave each other?

Ok so the main thing I didn’t like about this was the characters. I really liked T.J., but Mari? Not so much. I understand she was going through some things, but it was like she thought she was the only one that mattered in everything. In all her relationships. (Best friend, wanna be boyfriend, father/daughter) She just dropped people with excuses and didn’t give them real explanations. I know it’s the age old saying, “She doesn’t owe you shit” but I think it was kinda shitty to just not tell the truth. Especially when she made her dad feel that way when she didn’t tell him everything. And such an important thing at that. I just didn’t like it.

Then there was the instalove. I know, I KNOW it said it was going to be over a weekend and they were going to fall for each other. But geez, this went from 0 to 60. They were doing it during the first weekend. I wasn’t upset because they were doing it, but I just thought it was weird that they were ok with hooking up that fast but not trying to be together? Even though it was a possibility they would be near each other in the future. Idk how to really explain it… It just didn’t seem real to me.

I did like the setting though. Although it did come at a weird time after Astroworld happened in my home town. The descriptions were a bit hard to read, but it was ok. If Astroworld hadn’t happened it wouldn’t have bothered me if that makes sense. But overall, it was fun. I liked the descriptions of the mud, and the bad smells by the bathrooms, etc. I also liked the Chicago descriptors. I’ve only been there once, but she talked about all the touristy things that I did while there. It was pretty cool to recognize the places of somewhere I don’t live, just visited lol

This wasn’t my favorite of Kenneally’s but I still can’t wait for her next book. It just wasn’t what I was expecting this to mostly be about. But I still had to finish it for the love of her books.

Overall, I give this
