The Inheritance Games ended with a bombshell, and now heiress Avery Grambs has to pick up the pieces and find the man who might hold the answers to all of her questions – including why Tobias Hawthorne left his entire fortune to Avery, a virtual stranger, rather than to his own daughters or grandsons.
Thanks to a DNA test, Avery knows that she’s not a Hawthorne by blood, but clues pile up hinting at a deeper connection to the family than she had ever imagined. As the mystery grows and the plot thickens, Grayson and Jameson, the enigmatic and magnetic Hawthorne grandsons, continue to pull Avery in different directions. And there are threats lurking around every corner, as adversaries emerge who will stop at nothing to see Avery out of the picture – by any means necessary.
With nonstop action, aspirational jet-setting, family intrigue, swoonworthy romance, and billions of dollars hanging in the balance, The Hawthorne Legacy will thrill Jennifer Lynn Barnes fans and new readers alike.

*MY THOUGHTS*

I had a lot of time to think about what I wanted to say about this book after I read it. It was not exactly what I was expecting. It wasn’t giving what it was supposed to have gave.

After the bomb that’s dropped at the end of The Inheritance Games, many readers have been on the edge of their seat trying to figure out what happens next. Avery finds out so many things about her life in this book. Thanks to a DNA test she finds out she’s not a Hawthorne, but her connection to them is so much deeper than she ever dreamed. This book follows Avery and the Hawthorne crew as they try to figure out all the clues left behind.

When I read the first one, there were so many clues that came up, but still all the things were answered. And there were so many different mysteries. This one was the same mystery the whole book and every time they solved a clue, it made no difference. I felt like they were going in circles. And when I got to the end, it was like nothing was answered. She just dropped bombs the entire time. I didn’t really feel like the clues amounted to anything.

Which brings me to the next point. I wasn’t a fan of the ending. It seemed like everything they kept finding out about, wasn’t true. Don’t believe anything. And I mean at the beginning, the middle, or the end. Idk, it just felt like none of what they had been doing was actually resolved. But maybe it was just me.

The romance was a little weird. Like they were still finding out their family tree, but they weren’t stopping at all with the promise of romance. At one point I was like ummm didn’t she just figure out that she was…. Maybe it’s just me, but I just don’t feel like every book needs a romance, and this is one of them. Or at least a romance with the main characters. It just seemed a little weird to not really know who you are but still want to be in a relationship with them anyway.

Overall, I feel like all those bombs dropped and nothing being actually told what actually happens is all because there’s a Book 3! And y’all know how I am about sophomore novels. They ALWAYS disappoint me. In fact, I’m always surprised when they don’t suck. This book was a lot to process, so she’s getting us ready to read about the real crazy in Book 3. Let’s see how things go.

As for the narrator, she was great. She was the same narrator from the other book in the series. I normally find that some of the books that have a lot of characters have narrators that are good, but they just do the same voice throughout the entire book. But not Christie Moreau. She gives everyone different voices and has special effects and all. Reading these by audio is one of my better decisions.

Overall, I give this
