*MY THOUGHTS*
I can’t believe I forgot to write a review for this! Especially since I did like it. It wasn’t like I didn’t. But anyway, this was filled with music, love, and so many things I loved. I knew it would be a win for me.
Olivia knows all about being in love and getting dumped. But after her last one she’s become an outcast. She wants a weekend of no thinking so she heads to a music festival with her best friend to feel better. Now Toni is a week away from going to college, but she isn’t sure that’s what she wants to do. She isn’t sure what she wants her future to hold, so she goes to the same music festival to see if she can get any ideas from there. There, at the music festival, they find each other.
When I heard this was about music and a music festival, I knew I needed to get my hands on it. Music has always played a large part of my life. When I was in high school I was in band, in college I took some more music classes, and now I still pull out my flute every once in awhile. That’s what I thought about the whole time I was reading this. Music is so healing, and both those girls needed it. I loved the part that music played in this book. It was such a large part of their lives but for completely different reasons. Which I think is very true since music touches everyone differently.
The characters themselves were ok. It wasn’t something I would have written home about. Like I liked Toni and Olivia, but every other character, I didn’t care for. They didn’t seem to be fully developed and it just wasn’t something I cared for. Now Olivia and Toni were developed, but I don’t feel like this should have been a romance? Like I really think Olivia needed to be alone for a while. She needed to find herself. Not because of what happened to her, but because it didn’t seem like she knew what she wanted.
The plot of this was a romance, but it was still extremely predictable. I saw the plot twists coming and I called it about the one character at the very beginning. It wasn’t that hard to think it up. That didn’t make me change my mind tho. I was still enjoying it. I just chalked it up to having read so many of these in my lifetime.
I still loved Crown more than this one, (even though Mack was in this one) but it was definitely a read that was right up my alley. I hope there’s more cross overs in Leah Johnson’s future! Great job soror! Can’t wait to read more from you.
