Critically acclaimed author Trish Doller’s unforgettable and romantic adult debut about setting sail, starting over, and finding yourself…
Since the loss of her fiancé, Anna has been shipwrecked by grief—until a reminder goes off about a trip they were supposed to take together. Impulsively, Anna goes to sea in their sailboat, intending to complete the voyage alone.
But after a treacherous night’s sail, she realizes she can’t do it by herself and hires Keane, a professional sailor, to help. Much like Anna, Keane is struggling with a very different future than the one he had planned. As romance rises with the tide, they discover that it’s never too late to chart a new course.
In Trish Doller’s unforgettable Float Plan, starting over doesn’t mean letting go of your past, it means making room for your future.

*MY THOUGHTS*

Some of you may know that Trish Doller is one of my favorite YA authors. I have all of her books (ARCs included), so I was extremely happy to see that she was writing an adult book. And it was contemp romance, my favorite. I knew this was going to be something I needed to get my hands on. And after reading this, I can definitely say I was right!

After the loss of her fiance, Anna hasn’t been the same. She’s been overcome by grief and not really herself. When the reminder of their sailing trip goes off on her phone, instead of cancelling, she decides she still wants to take the trip. And she’ll be doing so by herself. But this tasks proves to be too much for a beginner sailor like Anna, so she hires Keane, who’s a pro, to help her. As the two spend time together, a romance that neither was expecting (or is ready for) sneaks up on them.

As a Trish Doller fan, I liked this one because of the writing style. Her descriptions aren’t too over the top, but are still just enough to make me feel like I was on the waves with them. And the descriptions of the places she visited and the foods she ate made me jealous that Anna was there. I wonder if Doller went to these places for the accurate details to go in this book? I don’t know if they’re accurate, but they sounded wonderful. I hope they were lol

Unfortunately, my gripe with this was from the romance. Which sucks because she does YA romance so well. But I just did not like the two of them together. The whole book I felt like Keane was a rebound and I didn’t feel he deserved that. I just didn’t feel like Anna’s love was genuine. It felt really forced and way too fast. But that’s just me. Other people could feel different. However, just because I didn’t like the two of them together, I did like them apart. Keane especially. Maybe that’s why I felt the way I did abut the romance?

Even still, with the main plot of the book not being my favorite thing, I still enjoyed this. I can truthfully say I look forward to more YA and adult books from her. And now I’m seeing she has another adult book coming out soon and I really hope it’s a companion…. I guess we’ll see!

Overall, I give this
