From the USA Today bestselling author of The Friend Zone comes an adorable and fresh romantic comedy about one trouble-making dog who brings together two perfect strangers.
Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.
Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?

*This book is part of the new adult contemporary romance genre! It is more mature than YA. I have featured it in Between the Covers as a way to feature the few Adult and New Adult titles I am beginning to read!”

*MY THOUGHTS*

Abby Jimenez MUST have stocks in tissues, because there HAS to be a reason she keeps making me bawl while reading her books. I don’t believe there can be another answer! But really, I LOVED this book and I really hope y’all love it too.

Sloan is still grieving her deceased fiance when she meets a rowdy dog who jumps through the roof of her car. She takes him home and tries not to get too attached as she reaches out to the dog’s answer. After weeks of no answer, his owner finally gets in touch with her. And he turns out to be just what the dog AND Sloan needed!

I couldn’t start this review without talking about anything else other than Jason. Listen, there are no words to describe Jason’s perfect. Now I know he had some flaws (I wanted to throttle him at the end) but for most of the book he was so sweet. Sloan was still a great character, but to me Jason out-shined her. I don’t know if it was because I had already “met” Sloan or what, but I just didn’t feel like this was her story.

And while we’re on the subject, I loved the romance between the two. He was so patient with Sloan and after what she just went through, she needed that. And seeing her let her guard down little by little as they got together. Such a tender relationship! I loved witnessing their love. As for the smexy times, its about a 5 on the heat scale. (And random fact, I read 2 books in a row where there was smexy times in a tent lol)

The emotion in this one will sneak up on you. I thought I was doing good by not crying when Sloan did all those times, but man. That ending got me. I think I cried for the last 30% of the book! And I don’t mean just tears coming down, I mean like hand trembling and covering my mouth that turn into me going through an entire box of tissues. I’m not sure why, but this book hit me like a ton of bricks. I wasn’t expecting to feel this way about them, but I did.

The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars was the plot. It was going great, but during the part where they are traveling so much, it seemed like it was going a bit slow. It didn’t seem like it lasted too long, but still was long enough for me to notice, which is why I took a star off.

Definitely one of my favorite romances this year. And I saw in an interview that there is another book to come in the series next year. I think by the time that happens I should buy my own stock in tissues since I know I’ll probably be able to keep the stock high all by myself with the help of Abby Jimenez books. But really, I loved this book and I really hope y’all do too!

Overall, I give this

What about you? Have you read this? What did you think of the book? What did you think of the characters? Let me know in the comments!
