With no other options, Liv is forced to transfer to the nearest public school, Northland, where she’ll have to convince their coach she deserves a spot on the softball team, all while facing both her ex and the teammates of the girl she punched… Every. Single. Day.
Enter Grey, the injured star quarterback with amazing hair and a foolproof plan: if Liv joins the football team as his temporary replacement, he’ll make sure she gets a spot on the softball team in the Spring. But it will take more than the perfect spiral for Liv to find acceptance in Northland’s halls, and behind that charming smile, Grey may not be so perfect after all.
With well-drawn characters and a charming quarterback love interest who’s got brains as well as brawn, Throw Like a Girl will have readers swooning from the very first page.
*MY THOUGHTS*
I’ve been waiting to read this forever. But it seemed like every time I got a copy of it, my teens at work yanked it from me. It was weird because most of them don’t even like romance. But I think it was the football aspect that they liked. And for that, I completely understand lol
Liv is a softball superstar. But just when things were perfect, a wrench is thrown into her perfect life. She throws one punch and everyone thinks she’s a completely different person. She’s kicked out of school, broken up with, and loses her team mates. From that one punch. But when she gets to her new school, she meets Grey, a perfect, but injured quarterback who needs something from her…. Become his temporary replacement while he heals. But even as perfect as he seems, he holds another secret.
As a huge fan of sports and contemporary romance being my favorite genre, I knew I would love this one. There was absolutely no way this could be a lose for me. And let me tell you, I was RIGHT. I could not put this one down. (Well stop listening to it lol) I will say if you’re not a sports fan, be mindful of this one. It is football heavy, but it’s still really easy to follow.
The best thing about this book was the characters. I think its safe to say I loved everyone in this story. (Except the glaringly obvious one….) Everyone was so energetic and athletic and I think that’s what got me. I was an athlete in high school and I still try to keep active, so I related to them so much in different ways. It was definitely realistic also, from the bruises, to the workouts, to the game plays.
As for the romance, it was amazing. I swooned every time the characters were on the same page together. I swooned from the first page the love interest was introduced. And although this may be sports heavy, the romance was great as well.
This book was a fluff read, but that’s what made it amazing. Whether you love sports or not, if contemporary romance is your thing, you will love this one! Now if only I could get a book on their best friends that would be great…… Henning, I’m looking at you.
