*MY THOUGHTS*
This review is posting a little late because I told y’all, I don’t really like posting reviews where I’m the Black Sheep. But this will be one of those reviews…. And I’m totally upset about it. I’ve been waiting to read this forever and now I’m totally underwhelmed.
I’m thinking it was the hype that did me in. I was hearing so much of the world and the characters and everything, but when I got to reading it I thought it was kick-ass and cool, but those feelings just didn’t stay. I wasn’t totally on board and it just didn’t live up to the hype for me.
I’m also a character oriented reader. For instance, if I don’t like the characters I 9 times out of 10 won’t like the book either. And sure enough, this same thing happened with Nemesis. I LOVED her in the beginning. Like the first chapter was brutal and cool. But then as the book went on I began to grow uninterested. I wasn’t sure if maybe it was because it just wasn’t what I wanted to read right then, but then I picked up my current read (Scythe) and it’s almost the same amount of dark and stabby.
Lastly, I’m also a reader who reads for the world-building. I absolutely love being “taken away” to new places. But with this book, there was so much going on and not enough explanation. So may different people on their planet with so many different things they experienced and the reader was left giving the background on them. Look I get it, it would’ve made the book about 22006950 pages, but it would’ve been more enjoyable to me to have a bit more explanation and not making it up myself. I think it was more dystopian like and the sci-fi part was from the robots and things in the books. That may have been the deal breaker for me. As someone who likes sci-fi, I’ve never been a dystopian fan and all the dystopia like qualities burned me out.
This book just wasn’t my cup of tea, but it seems I’m the only one who thinks so lol So with that being said, don’t let this convince you not to read it. GO get it and make it farther than I did so you can tell me how it ends. (In a message…No spoilers in the comments!)

Oh man! I'm sorry you didn't like this one, especially being one of the people who totally hyped it up for you. But I can see how being a character-driven reader would impact your feelings on this book. I definitely loved it for the plot and the intrigue.

Oh bummer. I've read the reviews where everyone was praising this book. It sounded interesting, my initial hesitancy came about because "space" books can be kind of hit or miss for me, usually miss because I feel like things are either over explained or under explained and it just leaves me all confused with the world building.
But this is still one I wouldn't mind checking out one day. It just might say low on the list though based on my initial hesitancy. Sorry to hear it wasn't for you. Nice honest review though!
