Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
But she, for whatever reason, spares Cas’s life.
*MY THOUGHTS*
Before this book came out it had a lot of hype behind it…. And it definitely lived up to it. I have to say, I loved this. So without further ado, let’s get down to the reasons why 🙂 First off, I love Love LOVE the cover. I am a big fan of black, gray, white and any other color used to make the other pop, and the red did just that. Also, with the title being Anna Dressed in Blood, it makes the title pop as well. Next, I liked the way the plot moved along. It wasn’t too fast or too slow and I was able to stay interested all the way up until the end. Next, I loved how there was some of everything in this novel. It included paranormal, romance, and suspense. I adore novels that don’t just stay in one genre. With this being the debut novel for Kendare Blake, she really hit the nail on the head with this one! It was a great story filled with everything a reader wants. Lastly, I loved the ending. It wasn’t what I expected at all! I thought it was ending so many ways, but never the way it actually did. This was a GREAT way to kick off October! But now, to avoid this containing spoilers, I think I will leave it right there. Please, if you haven’t read it, go out and get it now!
Great review! I'm glad this book lives up to the hype. I have this one waiting for me on my Kindle and now I'm even more anxious to get it started.
Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
